Nemapogon granella

(Linnaeus, 1758)215 / 12.015

Phil Sterling (2008): A local species in the British Isles, especially where found in semi-natural habitats, usually woodlands. The adult is rarely seen except where associated with stored products, when infestations may be found. The larva feeds on various bracket fungi in the wild, including Piptoporus betulinus; indoors it may feed on dry-rot, Serpula lacrymans, as well as dried grains and fungi. The only recent record in Dorset is from a stored grain infestation.
