Tineola bisselliella

(Hummel, 1823)236 / 12.026

Phil Sterling (2008): This species is now generally rare in Britain, having been an abundant household pest prior to the Second World War. It has probably declined as a result of increasing use of man-made fibres in materials and clothing and the use of insecticides in the home. The adult may be found sitting on walls in the house. The larva feeds on woollen fibres and other animal fibres. No recent record in Dorset.
