Phil Sterling (2008): This moth is very local in England, south of a line between Herefordshire and Norfolk. This species is strictly associated with chalk and limestone grassland habitats. The larva feeds at first in the seeds of field scabious (Knautia arvensis) and small scabious (Scabiosa columbaria), before dropping to the ground and feeding from a portable case on the lower leaves of the plants.
