Davey, P., 2009: A species of wetland occurring locally across all but the far north of Britain, the larva feeding on reed-canary grass (Phalaris arundinacea) and sedge (Carex spp.). In Dorset, the moth is local, at low density and strictly associated with river, fen and marsh habitat. It has been found on most of the county's river systems, harbours and lagoons, in fact wherever its foodplants occur.
