Davey, P., 2009: A widespread species in England, Wales and southern Scotland, more local further north, the larva feeding on various herbaceous plants. In Dorset, the moth prefers open situations and is frequent in unimproved grassland on neutral or chalky soils; it is virtually absent from sandy soils, and at low density elsewhere including woodland.
